Unfortunately, there is a strong possibility that the children in your care have experienced one or more traumatic events. This could be caused by a number of different things including abuse, sudden illness, accidents, attachment issues, war or terrorism. The trauma could be caused by a one-off event or something that is ongoing in the child’s life. Experiencing trauma can have a devastating impact on a child and affect their everyday life, behaviour, emotions and ability to form relationships in the future.

In this course you will learn:
- What trauma is.
- How common trauma is and why it is relevant to you as a foster carer.
- Types of trauma.
- Signs and symptoms of trauma.
- Treatment for trauma.
- How you can support your foster child.
