Men in fostering (MENcroydon)

Description
[This course will take you about 1hr to complete.]

As a male foster carer, you play an important role in supporting, nurturing and encouraging the children in your care. Having a positive male role model can help children see how different family members work collaboratively and better value diversity. For some children who had a bad experience with men, you can help build back their trust in them. Male foster carers need to be valued, respected, trained, supported and, most of all, involved.
This course will highlight the benefits, both for children in care and the carer themselves, as well as some specific challenges and recommendations. Parenting is a challenging job in any circumstance, but there are few things better than building trust with a child and watching them blossom into a better version of themselves.

In this course, you will learn:
- About men in fostering.
- How they are critical role models.
- Potential challenges.
- Protecting against allegations and safer caring policies.
